5 ways to pay for ASU Online
Almost everyone can qualify for some form of financial aid
But almost everyone, regardless of income, can qualify for some form of financial aid. In fact, more than 70 percent of all Arizona State University (ASU) students receive financial assistance every year. Below are some of the most common ways to fund a college education.
Federal financial aid includes need-based grants that do not have to be repaid. Individuals can find out if they are eligible for financial aid by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online.

Many students choose to apply for federal and/or private loans. Students must complete the FAFSA to be eligible for federal loans. Unsubsidized government loans accrue interest while students are in school, whereas subsidized government loans do not accrue interest until after a student has graduated or has stopped taking classes. Students can apply for private loans through their bank or other financial institution; however, interest rates on private loans may be higher.
Military veterans, active military members, and their spouses and dependents are likely eligible for tuition assistance through the G.I. Bill or other military tuition reimbursement programs. Like grants, scholarships do not have to be paid back and are available from a variety of sources. Academic scholarships are based on GPA and/or academic performance in specific subjects, including some that can be applied for by completing the FAFSA. Academic scholarships are available from both universities and third party organizations such as companies, private foundations, and nonprofit groups.
Need-based scholarships offered through charities or businesses are available to individuals in low-income or disadvantaged households.
Many private companies or foundations offer scholarships for students in their area or through competitions or some other application process.

Many employers offer tuition assistance as an employee benefit. ASU partnered with Starbucks to provide Starbucks employees with full tuition reimbursement as part of the Starbucks College Achievement Plan, for example. Students should check with their employer to see if they offer tuition reimbursement or provide scholarship opportunities to their employees.
